Plausible Deniability

The New York Times published an article titled, “House Rejects Measure to Bar Strikes Inside Venezuela.” The bill was submitted by House Democrats to reinforce congressional war powers. It was defeated on a basically party-line vote.

It’s like the GOP finds a somewhat plausible explanation and fights tooth-and-nail for it. Dems who likely know this campaign has nothing at all to do with narcotics trafficking get smeared for “not caring about our drug epidemic.” I’m sure if the topic was Nigeria, they’d be lambasted by especially evangelicals for not caring about Christianity.

Classic “So-when-did-you-stop-beating-your-wife?” logic.

To be fair, it’s entirely possible the Dems have used exactly these tactics in the past to push through legislation they favored. What’s good for the goose, I guess.
