What’s the difference between Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore? Plenty.

As an attempt to make light of a bleak weekend forecast, I posted this yesterday on social media:

Seeing a lot of weather news about the impending winter storm. I understand several models agree it will be severe. But I haven’t seen reporting on perhaps the best indicator of severity: Has Ted Cruz made his flight reservations yet? 1, 2

I later received this reply.

The schedule for the U.S. Senate I found online suggests it is not in session this week. 3

Calls placed this morning to the Senator’s Austin and Washington D.C. offices were not answered. Seriously.
